Well it’s been a horrible day!
Gorgeous part of the Loire today, lots of cycling along the river, through the very lovely Saumur, plenty of bridges and just a few vineyards…perfect!
Last birthday of the trip today for our French speaking crew member Peter Webber…after Stuart’s cake melted yesterday – it wasn’t pretty! – went for a more traditional tarte de pomme.
Three more trips to the bike repair shop and a few more punctures but everyone still out on the road.
It’s getting more and more scorchio, hit 26 degrees today and getting through incredible amounts of water – a couple of groups felt the best way to rehydrate was a quick pit stop for some wine tasting!
The crew had to turn on the air conditioning in the cars(!!) and we’re in the rather lovely Chinon tonight.
Could be worse!
