The gentle rolling ride through the French countryside turns out to be a series of hills a bit like going up and down L’Eree Hill 25 times. The fierce headwind for the entire journey didn’t put us off too much (all that training on the West coast was put to good use) but then the showers started = driving rain and hail almost battered us into submission. A couple of navigation errors by Mike’s team adding 10km to their ride didn’t help.
Nonetheless we dug in and got through a beast of a day. Two interesting stats for the day: Ray apparently did zero miles and zero m climbing and Mike had a top speed of 106kmph – Hmmmm…..
